Attended this club at the end of December for a free 2 week trial... subsequently decided to take on a membership and signed up officially at the end of the trial. Initially things were going well and I enjoyed the atmosphere. About 1 month later I found myself at another club that worked better for me (hours/schedule as well as additional one-on-one time that was included in the price of the membership). I contacted No Excuse Fitness and Boxing by phone to cancel my membership near the end of February and spoke to a woman who asked me if there was a reason I was canceling. I simply explained that the other club I found worked better for me. She said "ok no problem" and further said I can continue to come in for drop in classes. I asked her if I had to come in and cancel in person as in past experiences, this was a requirement. I was fully prepared to do this however the woman on the phone said "no". I confirmed again as I had been ripped off in the past and she said "no, we are a small business, we're not like that". She further said I may be charged one more time depending on how close I was to my billing cycle and I said no problem, recognizing that I was the one canceling. I then said thank you very much and thought it was case closed. 5 days later I was in fact charged on my Visa. I then called just to CONFIRM that my account was closed (not to ask for a refund and not to dispute the fact that I was charged again). I left a voicemail which did not result in any calls back. I then called again 2 weeks later to ensure again that my account was closed and membership was canceled and this time I spoke to the owner (Ryan). He told me he rec'd my voicemail and had no explanation for not calling me back. He then asked me why I think I had cancelled. I told him about the conversation I had with his employee and he then replied by telling me that she denied this conversation and that I was "making it up". I told him I have record of the phone call on my phone log and asked him if he was calling me a liar and he said "yes". I advised him that this was unprofessional behavior for a business owner and he in turn responded by calling me un-profressional. I then offered to come again in person to cancel my membership and he said they were "unavailable" all week. He told me he was "ending the conversation" and I asked finally what I have to do to ensure that my membership is canceled and he said "send an email" which I did. After the email, I rec'd confirmation that my account was cancelled. I am now waiting to see if they will bill me yet again as it has taken this long for the membership to "officially" be canceled and it is no longer 2 weeks prior to the end of the next billing cycle.Overall experience - the facility itself was nicer than many other boxing clubs however dealing with the business end of things has been a nightmare. The owner is extremely unprofessional and rude and I have never before been called a "liar" by someone who runs a business. Very poor business ethics. Shop around before signing up here.
