We visited to use the pool facilities today. The indoor small pool was closed due to chemical concerns and it was visibly very filthy. The outdoor pool was grey where you could not see your feet. We found that concerning and spoke with the lifeguards. They said they had an issue with the chemical levels indoors but outdoor "they could check if we would like". Sorry it's not up to me to dictate whether a pool that is visibly grey with scum floating around the edges from sunblock and bugs everywhere is worthy of investigating. It was lovely that the pool was open, but not in the condition that the water was visibly in. The change room area was a maze and I walked by the courts and spa unable to find my way out. Better signage is needed.
It a big place (just like many other gyms..health clubs in Canada ) I guess it's because the winter is long and cold. This place has a nice restaurant. I was surprised to see drinks...but hey! You r in Canada! The upstairs gym was very airy and spacious! Lots of tennis courts on the 1st floor.
This is an awesome family-run facility. Our kids love the indoor pool and slide. They have put a lot of time and effort in upgrading all the facilities and the effort has paid off. I would also highly recommend Cedar Springs for kids camps and great programming.
Under the old owners this was a great place to work out and the customer service was great. Over the last couple of years under the new ownership the membership services have been nothing short of awful. Ive been a member on and off for 7 or so years and finally couldnt take it anymore and had to attempt to cancel my membership. I was leaving the country for 6 months and attempted to freeze my membership which I never had a problem doing under the old owners. Unfortunately it is quite a big deal to even get a hold of someone in membership services when you are trying to freeze or cancel your membership, while speaking with Carmen I went multiple weeks without getting a response and I wouldnt have even gotten a response if I didnt follow up again. Honestly just a terrible experience with this gym and after being a loyal customer for so long Ill never refer someone to this gym and Ill never go back myself.
I have been a member at Cedar Springs for a few years and have noticed recently a decline in attention to customer service and maintenance of equipment. Towels, empty water bottles, and various pieces of equipment never appear to be put away properly and there are always things all over the place in the workout areas making it difficult to complete my exercises. Following the recent change in management there has been a noticeable decline in attention paid to maintenance which is disappointing. Hopefully, the appropriate actions are taken as it seems that other members have been complaining about the same issues.
